I have Dhoop on some puppy pee pads (changed twice daily but constantly cleaned of poops with wet wipes) with non fluffy towels to snuggle into in his big bed (a human baby porta cot next to mine ), when we go up to my mums house I just use puppy pee pads and a small towel in Dhoops pusher...
Okay so Dhoop just had a huge play, run, ate a bunch of food and drank a bunch of water, did some big healthy poops and had a good old cleaning session (as well as all the cuddles and conversations with mum). All snuggled back up in bed now with normal breathing and no clicks! I’m starting to...
Yes I seen her and instantly fell in love! Her water is definitely deep enough for washing her nares and eyes, she does splash it out over time but I always top it up or just clean it when she does. Hopefully I’m just being crazy haha, I haven’t heard the clicks again so I’m hoping it’s nothing.
Most of the ones here are too, which is how I’ve gotten incorrect diagnosis before because it’s very hit and miss at getting one with experience with birds. (The vets change clinics unexpectedly here and I’ve never had the same one twice)
Dhoops breathing has been a more normal looking pace...
Hi everyone, I have a little Indian Runner duckling who turned one week old today!
A few days ago (Christmas night) it sneezed and I thought (when holding extremely close to my ear) that I could hear a clicking sound.
The next day I took little one up to mums for a swim (Dhoop is an...
Just an update on little Winnie, he/she is just over 2 weeks old now and is doing amazingly well! It's incredible to see how big they've grown in such a small amount of time! I managed to track down the breeder whose eggs I purchased on social media, they were advertising the same dozen eggs on...
This is the shell bub popped out of, the 8 is the number she/he was in the batch but it was measured on the day we placed it into the incubator which to me seems quite a bit larger than the photos you showed especially if it was meant to be 5 days since lay. From what I remember it was also the...
Those are way smaller than the ones these eggs had! My first lot of eggs in my previous incubator had very similar air cells and she had told me they were laid 2 days prior to buying just like the other seller did with this australorp batch! I did also note some of the eggs my sister purchased...
Just giving an update on my second batch of blue australorp eggs in the new incubator!
I placed the 12 eggs in and candles and weighed 10 days later, I was very shocked and disheartened to see 3 infertile eggs, 2 developing eggs and a whopping 7 blood ringed eggs. I doubke checked with the...
My 12 australorp egg babies have just gone into the lambo! I sterilised my digital thermometer but its readings changed by 3°, the old fashion dial thermometer I had in the incubator matched with the incubators readings exactly so I decided to trust it's readings, it's the most credited...
That was honestly the best thread I've seen on incubating, thank you so so much! I'll definitely get a scale so I can weigh the eggs as well as just marking air cell growth with this next batch. My thermometer so far is reading a 1.5° lower difference in the new bator thus far but I just chucked...
I've set up the new incubator, I've decided to call it the lambo of incubators in comparison to my old one lol! It's heated up extremely fast and I can actually hear the fan motoring away strongly inside. I'll leave it for a while and check the temp against the thermometer I have inside as well...
I've got my thermo/hygro handy from my previous attempt, I will say I did not alot of hot spots more than cool ones in the incubator I just used, I think it's because the heater and fan were on the bottom of it which makes me suspicious that being placed direcrlty atop of that might have done...
Yeah I've got the old one sitting on the floor ready to pull apart for cleaning, I'm going to keep it still as a back up incubator. The australorp eggs I have were laid Saturday so I can get away with leaving the new incubator run for 2 days just to make sure it's stable, I'll try the first 24...
I just did a google as I wasn't sure lol but it says around 239m above sea level which isn't all that much I don't think? I'm reading the book for the new incubator now, it has two water basins you fill externally, one keeps it between 45-55% humidity for the first 18 days and then you fill two...
