I am currently drawing plans for my coop based on the design of a coop by birdicus7 . Here are a few Preliminary sketches that I am in the process of working on.
This is a front veiw of the house showing the access doors for cleaning. The underneath will be the run.
This is the side veiw...
Thanks for all the great responses. I do know Corrid is not for worming but I was thrown off by it not being listed as for chickens when I bought it. I did see the Valbazen so I will worm them with that when they are a little older.
It would be nice for things to be organic unfortunately...
I don;t think my girls would be very happy if I did not let them free range. They call to me as soon as I pull up from work, wanting to be let out. Dawg, again, thanks for the advice. I will def plan on taking it. Chez, sounds like thats the way to go. I save my poop for my compost as well...
Thanks Dawg, I've read a lot of your posts and you always seem to have really great advice. I had read on a previous post that you didnt reccomend adding it to the water and my only concern was some of my girls are really hard to catch and squirmy. Maybe with some help, I can get those birds...

Surprisingly enough, in all the information I read about raising chickens (prior to actually getting them) I read nothing talking about worming them. I just stumbled on a few posts discussing worming. I don't think my girls have worms (what are the symptoms anyway?) but now I wonder do I need to...
Poor Patricia just can't catch a break. Came home Friday and some how she has hurt her foot ( I think the pop door slammed on it) her middle tow is all swollen and bloody and her foot swollen and green?! I assume bruising. She gets around on it but I feel so bad for her. Cleaned the wound...

Im still not quite sure, but all I know is that she's almost 100 percent. My treatment was adding vitamins and electrolytes back into the water and I also do Corid treatment. Not sure which has helped or if either has helped at all. But she is getting better.
I bought mine from Meyer. I tought they were very helpful. They also have a GREAT selection of not only chickens but other fowl. Not to mention the 3 chick minimum order. <what first attracted me to them when I was thinking of only having 3-4 hens......ordered 16 instead because of the...
Fred's Hens :
When looking at show quality or heritage RIR or Barred Rocks, one could say the same thing about these breeds as well. What we get from hatcheries are a pretty far cry from some of the outstanding birds some BYCers show here. Makes you just drool.
it does but Ill say it...
