    I can say I found out that an alpha hen is far more viscous to the other hens than a Roo heading up the flock. Also hard to hatch eggs without one.

    Nothing like having a momma hen runnnig around with a clutch of babies. It seems as though if I left eggs for more than 2 days with my silkie would go into broody mode.

    This is why I switched to hooded cat litter boxes as nesting boxes. If I want to let someone go broody I can move the entire nest and put another in its spot
