I just got home from work, she looks worse. She smells bad too. I picked her up and she started to puke, I turned her upside down over the toilet and the liquid (yellow water with duramycin in it) and all the fruit etc came out. No grass or anything though. She isn't standing now.

I'm sorry, I missed that bit out. She did go 48 hours last week before I left with only liquidy foods that included olive oil and massage. I removed the food at night during that period and checked her in the morning and her crop was much smaller (I'm sorry, I don't know what empty feels...

Hazel is my favourite, I know you aren't meant to have them but she is. She is the buff in my profile picture. She is five years old and we hand raised her from a chick, she hatched a clutch and after a false start was the most devoted mama and stayed with her chicks for a very long time...

I have six chickens so I don't want to buy a huge amount of stuff I'm not going to use. They seem happy, are laying well, eating, sleeping etc but I found a red mite when I was checking the coop the other day so I figure there are far more elsewhere. They haven't been treated for anything else...

Sylvester, we have crows, doves and sparrows and a mocking bird my husband is really done with. The doves and sparrows are nesting in the tree above our chicken run. I'm sure they are thrilled with the fresh water and chick food currently on offer.

I have one of Al's feeders positives -- it is well made from almost all metal. It was quick easy to assemble and has lasted well, it was reasonably priced, it is easy to fill and the chickens quickly learned how to use it. negatives -- it goes "ker-clank" when they step on it, it is loud...

Thanks! Still only appears to be two. I moved the food within reach of the hen and she attacked it with gusto and clucked for her chicks to "come get it!" She nudged them towards it and they stood in the bowl gobbling away. So proud of my first time mama who wasn't raised by a hen and is still...

So we had a BO that wanted to hatch eggs so badly, she has repeatedly gone broody and will try to hatch an empty nest even. The time was right this time so I found someone who would give me six blues to try her with (we live in the city and don't have a rooster). I thought maybe we had lost them...

Two years ago we bought four little fluffy chicks. We rehomed one because she was not getting along with the others and apparently has a lovely life strolling around a rose garden bossing two other chickens around. We added two more grown chickens later to make five. Out of our five Lydia...

Crisis over, got to feedstore and bought food and peanuts. DH wanted to wait until tomorrow I said he was welcome to if he wanted to wake up from his afternoon nap with the beak of a hungry chicken between his eyes!

We have a treadle feeder, that is what is being eaten from. We have also tried hanging bucket feeders and a bunch of other stuff. Part of it is our dog is extremely smart and will get to anything plus racoons, possums etc.
