Giant goose egg - 228 grams

We have a small flock of geese. They are African Grey males and Toulouse females. We hatched and sold lots of geese this spring and then kept most of the last hatch. Our girls have started laying again (in the heat of the summer?) and I have to say, the eggs are remarkable!! We started out this...

Ancona ducks first time laying eggs!

Our ducks and geese prefer not to be inside at night. We put out some hay, grass, or leaves for them and seem very happy. We have an awning for them that they like in the heat, but they like the rain, don't mind the cold, and have only slept inside during heavy storms. Ours started laying at...

They are...

Our hens will sit on the nest a couple of times during the day (usually early and late in the day). Just watch her closely to see how serious she is. If she decides to...

    What breed are these?

Yup- Those are mixed breed chicks! Nothing wrong with that though- They will likely be very hardy. Good luck!

    Today's temperature = # of eggs.

Wow! 78 degrees! And then the clouds moved in. Now its cooling off a little. I got a pretty ocean green egg from our Ameracauna, two Australorps, and a Barnvelder egg. If I wanted to brave the showers, I imagine I could find another couple of eggs.
