I have at least 2 chickens that have tested positive in fecal for blastocystis? Has anyone used anything natural to treat in place of antibiotic. I don't have a vet nearby that treats chickens.
I had a fecal check done last week on my chicken and it was clear, but I'm still seeing worms and these egg looking things. Can anyone help identify if it's a problem. I'm probably going to take another sample in tomorrow just to be on safe side. Thank you
There is a slight gash across which looks like she may have caught it on wire. She does peck at it like it's hurting her. Thanks for the advice I'm going to try and catch her tonight and take a good look at it and spray it with Veterycin.
My Bantam who is still skitish has an injury to her toe, it was healing but it looks like she reinjured it. I'm not able to handle her yet but planned to try and handle her after she roosts tonight. Is there anything I can do in the meantime other than keep her in coop?
Oh my goodness you are not alone, I'm sure there's a lot of chicken owners who at one time are overwhelmed and beaten emotionally. I'm like you, i hate to see an animal hurt sick or in distress and if i feel I've contributed to it or unable to fix it it drives me crazy. When i lived in VA there...
I think without a necropsy it's just guessing. I just had the same issue lost 4 in 2 months, all with different issues. Almost lost another last week, got her to vet in time mystery inflammation/infection. She's on antibiotics but I won't feel confident till a recheck. Once she's better I'm...
Ours are and were happiest free range, they did not have any interest in seeing hanging veggies etc. We got them as adults so I don't think they had anything to keep them occupied.
I've got a RIR doing the same thing mostly on her breast. We've recently lost a couple of chickens so it could be depression, now there's only two of them She's also recovering from a moderate infection/inflammation.
