What did your guinea/s do today? 😁

My 7 pearl babies went off to their new home yesterday, and I put the 2 lavender ones outside with Dave, so for the first time in months and months there are no keets or chicks in the house! it's very quiet. One of them has started making go-back noises i think, I'm certain Dave is a hen now...

    Guinea bullying

thanks. We put the bullied one back in with the others today as he was looking more robust and the bully immediately went after him so my husband caught him and he's in a time out pen now. the others seem quite peaceful now, started making happy guinea chirrups pretty much straight away so I...

    Guinea bullying

oh that's interesting, i was going to post a similar question. Our adults have been together in a group for almost exactly a year now (so guess they are nearly 18 months old or so). One has been singled out this week and really bullied by the most dominant male. we have 3 girls and 3 boys, it...

What did your guinea/s do today? 😁

Mixed fortunes here. Young Dave and his (her) buddy are eating mealworms from my hand. Operation Tame Guineas has been moderately successful so far 😊 they are starting to grown their little horns and their heads are going bald. I feel quite proud of them, my first proper hatchlings 😂 The 9...

What did your guinea/s do today? 😁

oh that's tough. We have had a very mixed bag this year, first 2 attempts were using a small borrowed incubator and of the first 7, only 1 hatched but it took forever to zip and never really thrived despite having a couple of chicks for company. Second time we got 2 out of 7 and they are now 8...

What did your guinea/s do today? 😁

I got my husband to cull the crossbeak when he got home, couldn't face it myself. He's made of tougher stuff than me. But this morning we had another keet hatch, day 31... this one is absolutely fine and now in with the others :ya After the crossbeak hatched I thought perhaps I should have...

What did your guinea/s do today? 😁

Fortunately for Lavender Dave this week's hatch included 2 more lavenders. Strength in numbers! They are 6 weeks apart but I don't suppose that will make much difference by the time they are all getting big enough to join the adults, hopefully they will be able to stand up for themselves. I've...

Do people find that the funny coloured ones get picked on? our adults are all pearl so I'm worried about Dave integrating 🫣

What did your guinea/s do today? 😁

My home-grown keets went outside for the first time yesterday. They are 6 weeks old now but the weather has been so miserable here in the UK I didn't dare put them out any earlier as I didn't want them to get too cold... i brought my young chooks inside at night when they first started going...

Automatic door for eglu go up

did you find any answers to this? i've just picked up an Eglu go up and am keen to get an automatic door for it in case I'm away. i'm in the UK but the price is a bit too high to take the plunge without knowing if it's any good!

What did your guinea/s do today? 😁

I've seen so many mixed verdicts about raising them with chickens. My chooks are about 8 weeks old, my 2 keets about 4 weeks old, i suppose there's too much of an age gap really to mix them. as chickens can be such savages I really hesitate to put them together. their behaviour is so different...

What did your guinea/s do today? 😁

I moved my pair of 2 week old keets into a bigger brooder box with a lid yesterday as they were looking about ready to escape their first home. they were so shellshocked to begin with that they perched on top of the brooder plate all day... fortunately they got brave enough to go underneath it...
