    Brooding hen

    How do I stop a hen from brooding?? I’ve removed from the nest 2 twice a day for 2 days. Put her in the roosting rack with all the other chickens at night. Blocked her chosen nest.     Baby chicks not friendly

    My first hatch of chickens was in the 4/30, they are not very nice at all. I try to talk to them & hand feed them but they will not even come to my hand. When I water & feed them they run all they way to end of the tub. my first chickens I got from tractor supply they are the nicest things...

    Chicken tractor designs- advice appreciated!

    Here’s our tractor. We just got it to be able to love the chickens around in other parts of the yard. It’s 6’x12’ they don’t stay in it. Right now we’re using it for the 4 week old chicks to get outside in. The wheels are removable & it’s super easy to move around.

    Official BYC Poll: Is your RUN Covered or Not?

    Our run is not covered. It’s 8x25, but I put a small sliding door in the side & open it around noon & let them out into a bigger area that’s about 4500sqft to free range.

    Grit??

    Just hatch some chicks on 4/30, when do I need to start giving them grit?? Right I’m just giving them a mix of 1/2 medicated & 1/2 in-medicated chick starter. Got 14 in this hatch!!

    Okay I know I’m crazy but I just got 3 more chicks

    My coop right now is 8x16 with a run that’s 8x25. But I have an area about 4500sqft that I turn them loose in. That’s for the 10 big chickens. I’ll be doing an add on when my 4 week old chicks go outside for them & when the new chicks get old enough for outside.

    I’m glad I’m not the only one. I got 10 12-15week olds from my mom, 2 roosters & 8 layers(I don’t know what breed), then I bought 2 Americanas & 8 golden sex links from tractor supply, then put 22 eggs in the incubator, just hatched 14 of those 3 days ago & have 13 more eggs in another...

    Just wanted to say hi!! Just got 8 laying hens & 2 rooster from my parents 2 weeks ago. They’re doing great & this is a lot of fun. Got a incubator going now with a few starting to hatch. Looking forward to learning as much as I can from the experts here.
