yes I have seen some red leakage in him, he also has the green in his tail, there is another one like him from the same hatch and he is prettier with the green tail feathers and more red leakage!

wonder if you all could help me out and tell me what breed this roo is. He is 16 weeks old. hatched him and 5 others with a broody hen. Guy I got eggs from said 3 were RIR and 3 were Barred Rock. He ALMOST looks like a cross bettween RIR and BR...any thhoughts?

Here is a couple shots of her.....her comb is big and floppy....and the "purple feathers on her back side is actually Blu-Kote cause the other hens are pulling her feathers, I think she is at the bottom of the pecking order..

yes you can feed them egg shells, but be sure to crush them up fine as to not give any indication to the chickens as to what they are you do not want to recognize the shells and have then start eating their own eggs to get that shell!!
