    I never thought someone would have gone through the exact same situation! Makes me feel less alone, that I'm not the only one who has tried to do the right thing and been wrong. Or at least, miscalculated.

    Come back and tell me what you find! Like I said, I have some Gold Laced Wyandottes that are looking a little round in the belly too. I'm going to cut back feed and treats and see if it makes a difference for them.

    See, and I was worried she wasn't getting enough to eat. Our rooster always singled her out to chase her off the feeder or any kitchen scraps I brought out, I made it a point to spread any treats over a wide area to make sure she would get some too. Maybe he was always chasing her off because...

    If I can help someone looking at the same situation, then I guess that's an upside. I will definitely be taking extra consideration the next time I feel I may have to cull a bird.

    Thank you. No one else I know has chickens, and while they'd say "Aw, that sucks", they don't really GET it.

    I don't think she had laid an egg in maybe a year. I generally can't track who's laying, I go by who I see in the nesting boxes at different points of the day and I can't even remember the last time I saw her in there.

    I just got two 50lb bags, so that should take us pretty close to the chicks' 16 week mark. I'll be happy to go back to layer, it's so much cheaper.

    How do I ensure everyone is getting their share? We have 2 feeders so is that enough to keep the top hens from chasing off the lower ones?

    Yeah, I have already informed my husband that they're on a strict diet. We were sticking with fruit and veggies only, no more bread/meat/fat.
