I made a mistake

How do I ensure everyone is getting their share? We have 2 feeders so is that enough to keep the top hens from chasing off the lower ones?

This is a good question. It depends on the size of the feeders and if they can all get around it at the same time. Multiple feeding stations is a good idea. Your feeder product label should have told you how many birds it would feed. In general if have two medium or large flock feeders that should be enough. One medium or large feeder would feed 12 birds. I think this is ok.

You might want to consult a vet to see if there is anything additional dietary that you can do other than my prior recommendations to reduce the protein, fat content, and high caloric content of the flock's diet to prevent future deaths. This is a disease that can affect high production birds. Below is an easy to read feeding guide. :)

How could you of known? I’m sure you were swift and humane.
I wish your heart peace.

It takes a lot to admit mistakes. In fact very seldom do people come back to this forum and admit that they were wrong about something (anything).
One good thing has come from your post. People in a similar situation may consider your circumstances.
We all learn. I thank you for your post.
We all understand.

Oh Gosh...You could play the should of, could of, would of game forever. I should have done it earlier, I should have waited, she could have given me more signs, if only i would have had more experience with these things on and on it goes.

You cannot bring her back so you have to chalk this up to a learning experience and move forward, don't look back.

I am sorry that this happened, truly awful but, it happened.
