Thanks Egg! I'll go get a picture of the comb and post it. I did have a Wayndotte rooster that had a single comb. He was the very nice to look at but mean as heck!
I got this puller from a co-worker who told me she ordered red barred rocks. I can't find anything on this breed. She looks more like a wyandotte but I can't tell. Any help?
It hasn't started crowing yet but I have an older Cockeral who is the alpha so that may be why. Not really sure about the age, should be around 15-18 weeks.
Maybe didn't know you could ship larger birds. You would have to coach me through some packaging and shipping instructions, but if it's reasonable I don't see why not.

Great story. We have a Roo named Sid as well. It began life as Nancy but when it crowed you had to rename him and Sid it was! He is a SLW with a single comb and is Guardian and sometimes treat finder (he pulls the fake out move quite a bit as well). He is not friendly but not really...
we got our chicks in June they are about 28 weeks old and two of them are laying a Barred Rock and EE. They have both started in late Oct and have increased their production. They have seemed to be hampered by either the recent cold weather we have had nor the shortening days. It may just be...
Welcome Bob from across the river. I just built a similar coop but just used kiln dried standard 2x4's on top of an existing cement pad that was an unused kennel. I used cheap ply wood and clear plastic corragated roofing sheets. My coop is uninsultaed and my little flock of 7 seem no worse for...
try a seedling warming matt. It's only rated to raise the temp 10-20 above ambient. I have been using one during a long cold spell in my uninsultaed coop for the last week and it has worked great.
Wow I feel bad, my poor little chickens must be freezing! We have recently had extremely cold weather here is Oregon (cold for Oregon that is). It has been as low as 9F here and I finally put a seedling heat mat in between two pieces of plywood and put a waterer on it. It also has a bit of extra...
ok so it definately kept their water from freezing. Some lucky hen got the warm seat right next to the water and the rest seemed no worse for wear. THe coop temp this morning was around 19f and it was 16f outside. This was taken across the hen house from the heating pad. I need to find a better...
