When we got our little chickens, they were already about three and fours months old ... among them was what the previous owner told us was this little 'turken' ... well, she's actually a 'Showgirl' a cross between a Silkie and a Turken ... and she's adorable ... has a great personality. At first...
She did not look like she had lost any weight ... in fact, except for the 'sour crop' or crop binding, she looked actually healthy (well, except for the distended balloon crop). And ... I did not feel a mass in there, but I could feel the gravel bits, so I was as gentle as I could possibly be...
I have a 'sour crop' situation right now with my 10 month old bantam, Miss Daisy. Two days ago I noticed this girl wasn't running around, but since she was semi-dusting, I kind of blew it off. Then yesterday I was changing food and water and she walked slowly over to the dish but didn't drink...
Thank you, all good suggestions ... I'll try all of the above and see if I can figure this out! I'll post an update on this situation as it progresses.
My white Silkie has 'crusty' jowl folds on either side of her face. Normally this silkie has blue jowl folds, but these are blackish grainy and crusty. They do not look like they are oozing or bloody, but they definitely look black and crusty, more like scabs. Other than crusty 'jowls' she seems...

And you -definitely- need to absolutely keep her separated from the others ... chickens are after all things red ... and they will peck her until the innards are pulled out and she dies ... it's just what they do!!! Be prepared to have her separated from them for at least a month if the need be...
I don't know what to say ... I am dealing with a Turken who has a prolapsed oviduct too. I have not called the avian vet yet ... I first spotted a fairly large mass protruding from her vent two days ago along with the sub-vent feathers covered with a lot of white gooey mess (it's not worms by...
This is Bob in the picture above (now 2 1/2 months old) ... I just realized that Bob and his (almost) twin brother Zander are both pictured with their mother and with one of their sisters in my Avatar ... that was when they were one day old. Today, all 9 birdies of the clutch are beautiful...
