We do want to eventually get to that point, as it would be fantastic to be able to sell pure offspring. But that might take awhile, we've been working on our second coop now for a couple months lol. Pure Orpingtons in our future though!
I have someone nearby offering hatching eggs from a mix of Lavender roo and chocolate hen. These seem like they're both recessive, so would it just end up a colorful hybrid?
Hello,
I've been reading other forums regarding Orpingtons and how all their colors mix, but I'm still a little confused.
Our flock right now consists purely of Buff Orpingtons, plus a Rhode Island Red lady that's earned her spot. We recently picked up some Lavender Orpingtons and I was hoping...
My votes are Buff Orpingtons and Barred Rocks. We have a flock of Buff Orpingtons right now and they are so personable and plump. Barred Rocks are absolute sweetie pies and I just love them so much. They've both been great with providing consistent eggs and are just lovely to have around.
I've got several!! They are great! Our rooster is our second Buff Orp rooster, and he's a great dude. We've got four hens as well. They are cold hardy and pretty darn tough, not to mention they've been pretty consistent layers. Easy keepers and generally pretty upbeat little guys. They do love...
We've just got chickens at the moment, though we do plan to expand to quail at least. I'm definitely ready for an herb garden, I'm just waiting for that last frost date (any plant I bring inside gets eaten or sat on by kitties).
Thank you so much for this awesome advice!! I had made a makeshift ant trap but just added cinnamon to it and omg the ants immediately hated it. The plant is already outside, and it was a bit of an on the way out kinda plant anyway lol (been really struggling to keep it alive). An awesome...
Thank you! I'll have to look for that at the store today. I ended up moving the incubator to a different spot, even after cleaning it and removing the plant the ants still seem to be trying to get in. Hopefully that plus some ant spray makes the difference 🤞
Thank you, I think I will do that. I thought they were just in the area with water but the more I look it seems like they're setting up shop in the dry area 😓
My incubator is full with 5 days left til hatch. This morning it seems that small black ants have taken residence in a nearby plant and then into the water of the incubator. I can see several on the walls.
Do I open it and clean it all out or will I ruin the hatch??
