Every morning they have very loud clucking spells when nothing is wrong. For the hours from about 8-12 they freak out for no reason. We don’t know why they do it, but it’s very obnoxious and we don’t want neighbors to complain. How can we get our hens to calm down?
I have a 2 year old hen that is the first and only of our chickens to go broody. She has been on-again-off-again broody since about
March. I don’t know if it’s the hot weather or what, but she sits in the run (which is in the sun) while the rest of the hens are roaming. I’m worried she’s going...
I have the same situation. one of my EE chicks (6weeks) is bowlegged. she doesn't move around too much but she loves to roost. it doesn't seem to bother her either, but she does trip sometimes. she'll curl up in your lap it's the cutest.
we were worried for a while that our EE chick in the front was a roo. i read that the reddish spots may be a sign of that? she has a reddish/gold coloration anyways, but i want to be sure. they’re about 6 weeks.
one of my EE girlies has very bowed legs. they don’t seem to bother her but i’m wondering if that’s something i should worry about?
sorry for blurry picture but you can see her legs.
so my 2 chicks are nervous in their brooder. we decided to put the classical music station on a small radio. they were skeptical at first, but now they’re nodding off to string quartets!!
may not work for all chicks but certainly calmed down this bunch. :)
we have had them on corid for 2 days. we had speculations about coccidiosis. the chicks haven’t actually met the adults yet, but we are getting them used to the outside.
my 2-year-old hens love the following treats:
yogurt with some oats or corn mixed in
berries of any kind
cracked corn
kale and other greens
MEALWORMS
apples
pumpkins
WORMS
The best thing about these is that they're all super good for them! Sorry, this is random but people are asking about...
The egg-white substance that was coming out may have been a sign of coccidiosis. Look out for signs of blood in poop. get some corid to be safe. it's not an antibiotic, so it won't hurt them if they aren't sick.
