I have noticed my Pekin duck has a couple little white bumps inside her nostril. I don't know if I should be worried yet or not. I'm hoping they just slowly go away.
My ex husband left some of this old work shirts so I used them. LOL Very theraputic way of using them up. I cut them in half so it was like a long strip of cloth. It was so cute watching the babies snuggle up to them under their warmer light and then make their little baby soft peep noises...
I live in town and they had all just had water time. They were all nice and pretty white since they are pekins. It was getting dark so I wanted to bring them in so wild animals wouldn't get them. They were all inside and then all that submissive stuff started. My daughter started yelling...
Not sure if anyone else has had this but four out of my five ducks are starting to get hormonal. One starts bowing and lays her whole body straight on the floor then another duck wants to be submissive so she starts doing the same floor laying thing and then its becomes this syncronized mess of...
I have a female Pekin duck which started laying eggs September 8th. Yesterday I noticed some black dots on her bill just all random like. She looks like someone decided to dot her bill using a sharpie permanent marker. She's still laying fine, she's eating grooming swimming like normal.
I use the duck pond water on my garden, also on the wild edibles I give to my duck ladies. It makes a complete circle. I give them bath time everyother to every two days in the summer months. Not quite sure what I will do in the winter. This will be their first winter. I live in town so not...
recently I got some live mealworms from Petco or Petsmart. I;eve been letting them grow to adult and then start breeding. It's cheap protein and my duck Millie will eat the worms out of my hand. You could start a vermiculture system in your basement or a shed using compost or whatever. This...
That's exactly what she was doing. The first time she did that I was so worried their was something wrong...Then she stood up and acted like nothing happened. It was like she was possessed.
I grew up on a farm and I only had one male duck that lived out in the pasture with the sheep. I think he thought he was a sheep...more like the leader of the sheep cuz in the winter I could see an orange bill and feet walking in the snow with sheep following. I'm just glad this is normal...
Question: Is it ok to feed ducks omlets made up of foods that they are able to eat? If they can eat cooked eggs and other stuff why not combine it into omlets. This way the plants that taste a little strong to them can mellow out so they will eat it. Just a thought
Rudy (the drake I lost) grew up with these females. I don't really want to bring in a lone Drake into the mix cuz I don't want the rest of the flock to gang up on "The Newbie"
Now that you have mentioned it she has been doing this goofy head bob thing where her head and neck look like a question mark and she bobs her head up and down. She seems very excited to have me fill food dishes or water containers.
