    Hi sorry to report an hour after posting this "cheeky" was found dead. We have had a few deaths but this was harder as she was the head of the flock and seemed so hardy compared to the others.

    Thanks. We are happy to know we have a good egg layer in the red sex link (golden comet). I'm thinking the other is a cross breed ? we also have a black silkie. We got her first egg yesterday but looked a little green?

    Got sand? You should!

    I use sand in the inside upper level where the perches are and underneath in the run. So easy to scoop out poos and have a cleaner and better smelling coop. We use straw in nesting boxes though. It's a cheaper alternative and great when it rains as the sand drys out and we were throwing out too...
