When I unexpectedly run out - I cook up some brown/white rice and/or barley, oats, quinoa or whatever grains I do happen to have in the house. I think they love the change up in feed.

On my pop door which is open year-round, I used a couple sheets of small bubbled bubble wrap--they can sorta see through it so they had no problem instantly going in and out. It was heavy enough cause I used a few sheets so did not blow in the wind and seemed to work perfectly.
I put old beginning to rot logs in the run specifically to attract slugs cause my girls LOVE them. I flip the logs on occasion and they are so thrilled.
I agree with your letter--in no time my garden was reduced to DIRT- (perfect for end of season though)---never again free ranging in there!

My daughter has 2 hooded males that she had neutered--apparently neutering keeps them from getting many types of tumors and they live longer and healthier lives. They are wonderful pets--wish more folks would realize what intelligent, clean and loving creatures they are!
