    2018 Hatchalong

I have an egg that has been rocking for a week and internally pipped yesterday. Lockdown was supposed to be today (day 28), but I locked down early because of the internal pip. Waiting three days is going to be an eternity! :barnie I do like that the baby inside reacts to my voice though. I say...

    3 wks feels like FOREVER!

My babies are hatching! The wait is finally over! I barely slept last night as I heard little peeps coming from my eggs around midnight. Got up at 4:30 and watched my first hatchling come into the world. The wait is worth it! I'll be excited to hear when your ducklings finally arrive

    New silkie not fitting in

I'm not an expert on silkies, but I have read a lot about their behavior. You should put her in the coop at night with the other chickens, for some reason silkies tend to sleep outside (maybe their poor eyesight) but they can learn to go to the coop at night. Silkies also tend to develop a...

    Beautiful Eggs!

They lay about 250 eggs a year. They are a blue/green color, hard to appreciate in the pic. I was getting an egg a day, but I had to move the coop and my ladies are protesting now :(. I only got 2 yesterday.

Does anyone else hate 50 pound bags of feed?

I only have 4 chickens (right now ;)) and I get 40lb bags of food because larger bags are harder to carry. Looks like I need more chickens to get rid of the food in a more timely manner. They forage so much that I feel like the food lasts forever :(.

    ISO Modern Game Bantam Eggs

I'm looking for MGB too. So hard to find. I'm looking into going to shows, but most of the shows in CA are in the south :hit. Love the birchen and lemon blue :love. I'm on the same page as TattooedChicks, in need of a lanky mini dinosaur to cuddle. :hugs

    The Duck Thread

Cayuga ducks can have white on them, not a big deal if they are not show ducks. They will also get more white as they get older. East Indies are black like the Cayuga too, but they are bantams. it will be interesting to see what your kids look like when they get more feathers. Do the black ones...

    The Duck Thread

That was supposed to be a reply to a previous post... obviously it didn't go where I wanted it to. Well, I'm new here and just wanted to say hello. I'm enjoying reading through the thread and looking at all the great duck pictures :). I am in the process of preparing for a couple Cayuga ducks...

    The Duck Thread

I have read that ducks will lay eggs all year if it is warm enough and if they get 14 hours of daylight. It is not good for them to go more than 18 months laying eggs though because they need to molt.
