Actually the cockerel doesnt have any pin feathers, its just fuzz, then pullet with also have the fuzz but with pin feathers.- P'Fowls

I cant say for sure on a silkie. We are just getting the hang of them. They are different than other fowl with their fur like feathers. Hatcheries wont even sex silkies due to that. If that was any other chick, I would say its a cockerel. Cockerel are uneven hens are even. We do ours different...- P'Fowls

Depending how old the chick is. When they are a day old we start at the base of the wing next to the body. As the chick gets older we move out the wing until we have to check the end feathers as you are showing. That looks like a cockerel from the photo.- P'Fowls

Hmmm, I dont know why yours still eat them. I have heard that some birds just are egg eaters. But everyone I have saw around here and my customers all stopped after getting more calcium in their diet. That may be true after all that some just eat them. Maybe they all cant be fixed. Thats funny, I dont kow why they claim it mimcs night. Its a light for goodness sake, how can a light mimic the dark.
