Your method is what I decided to do when turkey and goose harvesting time came. Here I thought I was the only genius to figure it out 😂 I’m laughing but even though I raised them for this exact purpose....it doesn’t make the task any easier 😢😢😢
She didn’t make it through the night and now I have another one acting sick 😢 This is presenting its self as a crop issue. She’s not eating and not walking. She will drink water but will puke it up if you pick her up. After the last time she puked she started gurgling when she breathes...
When I was washing her up I felt around the vent area and I didn’t feel anything hard in there. But I will go get some calcium pills. While I’m out and about, is there a special kind of spray that I can use to keep them from pecking? I bought “Stop that Peckin” but I honestly think it makes...
I think I have a canibal. I noticed a couple of them running around pecking at all the butts. I’ve separated them the best
After watching them, I think your right. Any suggestions on how to stop this nonsense? They have all been together for 2 years and nothing has changed except the weather.
I’m not really sure what’s going on here. I have kicked the rest of the chickens out of the coop for the day until I figure out what to do with this girl.
I’ve read all the way through and am still confused on why you can’t build a fence or a secure coop but you can get more animals. I would highly suggest you work on securing a coop. Most predators like coyotes, foxes and coons strike at nighttime. Having a secure place for them to roost at night...
I don’t think he’s really hurting her. He just mounts rough but he’s also a young rooster. I’m new to chickens and I don’t really know how a rooster is suppose to act. To me he is just trying to get to the top of the pecking order...Patsy use to pick on him and it seems the tables have turned...
I have 15 hens and 1 (accidental) rooster (Mortimer). I have noticed Mortimer kind of bullies a couple of the girls. He picks on the 2 largest girls. I don’t allow it when I’m in the coop or the yard but I’m sure once I’m gone he does his thing because we have missing feathers. One of the girls...
Ok..seems like there are a couple ways to do this.
I think I’m going to keep treating him the way I have been since a tiny little guy. He’s not friendly (like my girls) but he’s not mean (yet). I walk towards him and he moves (or runs away) and I think I’ll just try to keep that same behavior...
I love this forum! You guys have been great I’ve only been a chicken mom for about 5 months and I come here all the time looking for answers to question. Thank you all for being AMAZING support!!!!
So we thought we had 16 laying hens (because that’s what we bought) but we are starting to think one of them is actually a rooster. She’s always looked “different”. I always told Hailey I thought there was something wrong with her. She walks different, her stance is different, her tail has...
