Bloody bum

She didn’t make it through the night and now I have another one acting sick 😢 This is presenting its self as a crop issue. She’s not eating and not walking. She will drink water but will puke it up if you pick her up. After the last time she puked she started gurgling when she breathes 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ She is now in the hospital cage with a heat lamp, water and no food.

I suspect this hen has an egg stuck, perhaps is in the process of prolapsing, straining and trying to expel the egg. Right this minute, giving a calcium tablet would be a wise step. It will strengthen her contractions. The others have pecked her vent and she's now suffering from wounds that need treatment, too. Smooth on some antibiotic ointment without pain killer.

Since she has such a messy rear, a warm soak in a little Epsom salt and soapy water would be a good start. It will further cleanse the wound and relax her.

Warm some big towels in the dryer and place them in a crate with her enthroned on them. The continued warmth will help her and the warm towels will supply the moist heat she requires as her wet butt feathers dry.
Also to add to this l would definitely isolate the young lady away from the others. Please keep us updated :)

Sorry for your loss. Be careful picking up a chicken with a full crop. If squeezed they can choke on crop contents coming back up into the throat.

If there is cannibalism and vent pecking, it may be due to overcrowding, boredom due to not getting outside to roam, or too little protein in the diet.
