Identifying a purebred Red Golden Pheasant?

Or buy birds from someone who can prove they have Pure Stock. I worried about buying Golden's that were crosses, but I just decided to spend the extra for birds that are 100% pure with a document. Pic is of one of my pairs, a 97/Vaughn Line birds.

    Curassows and Guams

I know one of the last guys with Guans in the USA, and by the couple pairs here, I don't see them every being profitable. Now Curassows are way more common. I couldn't give you a ton of Information on them but ask Stuart Denton, he's had good luck with 3-4 varietys

Adding young pheasants with adult pheasants

The best thing to do, is if they are planned for breeding, keep them separate until one month before breeding season. Never keep a young cock with a adult cock during breeding season. With my Cabot's, I have to let the young hen in the main pen until a month or so before breeding begins so that...

Ornamental Bird Conservation (2016 A Fresh Start)

We are being selective with where some of the rarer stuff goes. Like Cabots I want to stay in good hands since I've been through alot to aquire the lines. And for the Argus, they are more aless for Zoos. Kevin, could you PM me about the Saytrs? I'm also looking for 3 pairs of them also. So 5...

Ornamental Bird Conservation (2016 A Fresh Start)

Well, I don't plan to have my prices over the top, like Cabots bring $800 per pair RELATED. I have a benefit because I will have 2 imported lines (olsens and sumner) to produce pure unrelated! I saw them, my Argus pair I'm looking at buying next fall is a F2-3 pair. Canadian lines...

Ornamental Bird Conservation (2016 A Fresh Start)

As all my stock comes from Imports, either F stock or domestic lines, so I'm going to limit the hatch rate on breeds such as Goldens and Amherst, even though they are from Imports and are 100% pure. I'm hoping to try and get a good amount of Edwards,Cabots, and Argus each year, but like Edwards...

Ornamental Bird Conservation (2016 A Fresh Start)

I currently have a Cabot Tragopan Cock, and a pair of Monals (Domestic Stock) I should have added the Imported Stock Monals to that list also. I'm trying to work slowly up, as I'm building new Avaries, I want to put up nice ones instead of junk. Lots of investments, don't plan to make money, but...

Ornamental Bird Conservation (2016 A Fresh Start)

On January 1st 2016, I started my new project. This project will be to raise endangered and exotic species of Galliformes. My first goal was to find a pure specimen pair of Golden Pheasants and Lady Amherst Pheasants. My research led me to Kurt Landig, master breeder of Galliformes. He has...

    Impeyan advice

A concept that I had was usually a gravel mixed sand around the barriers. I believe it would prevent much digging. A wire apron is always a good decision.

    Cabot Tragopan Pheasant's

I only seen the one picture of the male on the stump. How big was your Aviary? I got a hold of Larry and he has both Ron's and Richards stock. I'll definitely be getting a pair from him this year.

    Cabot Tragopan Pheasant's

    Cabot Tragopan Pheasant's

I'll call tonight. I probably will end up getting a hold of Larry since he got some of Richards stock. Plus Kurt was telling me their orbital skin is a nice orange.
