  • Feeling down. 4 of my chickens went missing yesterday. One came back on her own and one was found in my neighbors yard across their old fence. Both seem unhurt, no limping or missing feathers. But two of my younger more unique breed girls are still missing (the pavlovskaya and the frizzled Mille fleur). There are no traces of them anywhere (no feathers).

The pavlovskaya came back in one piece 2 days later! I came home at dusk and the chicken run door was closed. She was laying in front of the door poor thing... I thought she was dead but she made a sound so I picked her up and put her in the coop. She is completely fine minus some broken foot feathers. But I am afraid Fern is lost to us, poor girl, I hope she didn’t suffer.

Oh wow! I am glad to hear pavlovskaya made it home ok! Sorry about Fern. :hugs I know it's hard in the heart.
5th and 6th hen started laying!!! My light Brahma (Opal) and my other Easter egger (Beladora). I thought the light Brahma would lay a pink egg but it’s pretty light tan. But the Easter egger laid a perfectly pure blue egg I’m so happy!!!!
My third and fourth hen started laying! My Easter egger (Prudence) and then my gold necked d’Uccle (Clementine). Clementines egg was laid in a nesting box next to the one that the big girls lay in and she had covered the egg with shavings, how cute!
