Hens are all using one nest box

Definitely fake eggs is the way to go. I bought 3 from the local farm shop but they were so realistic the wife kept bringing them into the kitchen to use. So I had a black marker and drew X's all over them so she could tell the difference. I kid you not!!😄

6 hens, only 2 are laying

Ok hopper tipped out and feed changed to the previous supplier. Fingers crossed this is the answer. I won't waste the old stuff, the wild birds can have it if they have a taste for it. I know exactly how I changed feed. The country was in lockdown, nothing was open or had a queue a mile...

6 hens, only 2 are laying

Thank you Azygous for the reply. Funny thing has just occurred to me, I changed food suppliers before last xmas and they stopped laying which I put down to cold, short days, winter rest etc. The girls ate it ok, but I didn't like the consistency of droppings, being a bit cereally and...

Hi everyone, I am in south west England. Day length is currently around 14 hrs, so you'd think the girls should have started laying by now right? 6 hens, unlimited pellets, corn, water and green stuff. 4 stopped laying back in December, and we were getting 2 a day from the same birds. Not...

    Wrinkly Eggs

Hi all, one of my chickens (1 of 6) is laying wrinkly eggs. Now in all fairness, the wrinkles have been tiny but consistent, which suggests its from the same bird. However, today, she excelled herself and laid a giant walnut. They have unlimited everything from hoppers in their coop and run...

    numbers of eggs

Thank you for all your replies. My hens are Warrens, about a year old. I let them out at about 9.30 every morning, usually after they have laid their eggs and started calling me to tell me what good girls they have been. That's when I find the eggs.

    numbers of eggs

Hello, I have to say I always thought chickens only laid one egg a day and sometimes took a day off. For the last 4 days we have been getting 4 eggs a day. That might not sound strange, except that we only have 3 chickens. Is this normal, or an anomaly due to the hot weather or something.
