I have used a ceramic bulb for both quail chicks and chicken chicks. Never seem to have an issue with the 100w. I use a heat lamp socket and set it directly on the wire on top of the brooder and it seems to work, as they get old I raise it up a little at a time or move it further to the side
Very good to hear! Thanks, I think I will pull the auto turner on Thursday evening (start of day 13) and let them sit. Its times like that I am glad I never worry about humidity!
I have a problem. I started an incubation of 30 quail eggs a little while ago without looking at what day the hatching would occur. My "day 15" will start Saturday at 4:00pm. I normally take the auto turner out at the start of "day 15". I am leaving town Tuesday evening (start of "day 13")...
I will shortly be starting to raise my first animals...quail! I have done a ton of research and lots of planning, probably too much!
I would like to document everything here and get opinions and thoughts as I go down this journey.
This is part 1: the build.
I decided on an above ground wire...
Do you mind sharing a cost estimate? I roughly calculated it to be about $15 per feeder setup. does that sound in the right ballpark? Thanks so much for sharing
You are ahead of me, all i have done is research and am planning on starting in the next couple of months. but from my research you locked down at the correct time.
