Two more EEs laying! This is a mix up of all my girls' eggs. I have EEs (Americanas), Comets, and a Welsummer. She's the one with the speckled egg. Today I even found an "EYEBALL EGG!!!". I don't know what happened to it but I found it this afternoon in their play castle tower.
Hi J'freak! I have those "Americanas" too! All six have nice fluffy muffs. Do yours? I discovered the Americanas are Hoover Hatchery's version of the EE, crossing an Ameraucana and Araucana. Mine are just about to start laying as they are presently squatting when approached so it won't be...
Hey, PorchChickens! I, too, am using this deer-x netting to extend my wire fence height to 7' and keep chickens from poking their heads through and getting em bit off but I'm just a bit worried...have you ever had a chicken get tangled in it? Mine's fastened pretty well to the wire fence...
Thanks, aart! The grey egg has a nice greenish tint to it. The one that laid it is supposed to be Ameraucana but you know how that goes. She's a nice, friendly chicken. Here she is:
Will someone please show me a tuft? I think I understand about muffs and beards but tufts...where do the tufts come out? Is this a "muffie" (front) and a "tuftie" (back)?? Thanks.
I thought long and hard about how to date my breakfast eggs and decided that a regular graphite (they're not made of lead anymore) pencil would be best. There's no liquid ink with all the chemicals and there's no smell, as well as no chance of anything seeping through the shell.
HEY, pmoore! I have one kinda like yours, too! She's an EE from TSC. I'm happy to hear yours is laying green eggs daily. Mine isn't old enough yet (14 weeks). I'm getting tired of waiting...and waiting....
In the fourth picture, jblackb042, can you tell me what kind of chicken that one in front of your new chick is? ...the one with the dark head, gold shoulders and gray bottom. I have one just like that one! She's a beautiful chicken!
HA HA HA...that's because there aren't any! I think it's because there are a lot of huge commercial chicken houses here in WV that have a few thousand chickens in them and it's how a lot of people make their living. I think many West Virginians are more interested in "growing" their chickens...
Try to handle the dog yourself because all you're going to get is a bunch of flack from the owner (like,"Oh, he's a good dog; he won't hurt anything!" , "Oh NO, my dog would never do that!" or they'll just think you're a grouchy neighbor and hate you.) Get a spray bottle and put some vinegar...
