    the pen setup is in a plastic 2x3ft box with pine shavings from tractor supply. the lighting in the pen is provided by a reading lamp with a 20 watt bulb(it needs to be small so that nothing can catch fire).

    Cocci or vent gleent please help!

    I read somewhere that one of the causes of vent gleet was contamination in the food or water. It could even be from the water supply if you are on well water or treated water(chlorine tablets, etc.,). I found that keeping the patient supplied with fresh, bottled water helped reduce the symptoms...

    VERY early hatcher: what to do?

    It should be fine by itself for a few days but if it makes you feel better, you can put a small mirror in with it. I did this with a chicken that was by itself for about a week and a half. And I also used to raise Pharaoh Quail so good luck with the little birds brains!
