    Show off your roosters

Beautiful bird! Looks like he has pheasant in him ;). That tail...wow! That must be where the Phoenix name comes in, huh? And his soft tufts of feathers are copious!

    Show off your roosters

Your Tarzan is growing up to be the handsome guy! Don't you love the little soft tuft of feathers at the base of the tail? What is that about? Don't think I see that on my hens. And your Seabright...WOW!!! Spectacular! Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Thank you . He is a feral (not so much anymore) jungle fowl kind...Maui rooster. He slept in the guest bedroom for a number of months as he got stronger and bigger.

Sorry I am not good at this. Wanted to show a picture of Sal. He was almost dead in the barn as a chick...pecked by others, emaciated. I fed him, protected him from bullies, joined this site and voila!

    Losing tail feathers

My hens occasionally look like their tails have been bobbed. I wondered if they get broken off during mating. My rooster is big and a little clumsy. And that squeaky toy sound? Yes! My hens and rooster make that noise when they are eating scratch. I wondered if it was a sneeze...from that...

    Hen that crows

Yes! This morning I heard what sounded like a young roo's practice crow. Sure enough it was a hen named Broody Trudy who is, as you can tell by her name, a layer and a brooder. I wondered if she was tring to reply to my rooster, Sal. They were sitting on the same branch. Funny!! I am so...

    A coop for "jungle fowl"

Thanks for your helpful suggestions. I may be up against nature a bit too much expecting them to lay in a designated area since they are wild. I did try putting a box under an area where they hang out (bushes) with a golf ball in it...but nothing ever happened egg wise. I live on Maui in a...

    A coop for "jungle fowl"

    New from Maui

Hi, everyone. I was so pleased to find a site that answered questions about chicken's trilling. I am new to chickens. All my chickens (and there are at least 25) are feral. They just showed up one day. Nine of them...adolescents. I was charmed by them and started feeding them and they have...
