    deep litter question

i use deep litter method in my coop. for shavings, i have used untreated natural pine, cedar, and cypruss, as well as some shredded paper. i am hoping to use the litter for garden soil, as i've heard this works well. my question is, will the acidity of the wood shavings be a problem for a garden?

Awesome looking Rooster. My McMurray bonus egg was also a Rooster, but you got a better deal with yours! Very neat.

    Rooster with my laying hens?

I bought sexed chicks to raise as laying hens, but one turned out to be a rooster. He's really attractive, not aggressive, and rarely crows. I wouldn't mind keeping him around. Gender of my 3 month Araucana.

I thought I had all hens, but noticed that one of my araucanas is developing quite the comb. All of the girls have a very subtle comb, so I'm now a bit suspicious that I've got a rooster in my henhouse. I am new to the breed. Anyone have some insight?
