    Disoriented hen?

Update: she walked up and stood next to me just fine (or if she wasn't fine it wasn't too noticeable until I brought her in the barn and set her on the table where I gave her cat food) she spent most of the day after that on my lap sleeping but I had to get up so I put her in a box with her food...

    Disoriented hen?

Hi friends, I have a hen that I picked up earlier today ( just cause she was next to me and I always pick them up if they let me for pets and attention) well this one seemed very light in weight so I immediately felt her crop which was empty. Completely flat. Her breast bone isn't very...

    Wold turkey eggs

My boyfriend said he also hatched some under a duck and they weren't very friendly. ( young and unaware about wild turkeys) Even the domestic turkeys I've had were aggressive little a- holes. I didn't expect them to stay I just wanted to give them a chance at life but didn't think that they...

    Wold turkey eggs

🤣 The hay is cut and nest was exposed. I don't think mom will come back and I'd hate to see them die. I'll contact the closest rehab center I can find. If the cops come I'll gladly just hand em over.

    Wold turkey eggs

I'll have to find one nearby. They were in the hay he was cutting. She jumped out and he figured there was a nest so he was able to avoid hitting then. Until then I'll just have to keep them warm

    Wold turkey eggs

Hey all! My boyfriend found a wild turkey nest while cutting hay (per usual) and for whatever reason this time he asked if we could try and incubate them. ( I'm so glad I sold my incubator this spring 🙄😅) I'm using the cardboard box incubator method and I've insulated it with Styrofoam and...

    Sprain or dislocated hip?

How awful! I wouldn't want to go back either!!! Just because an animal is a food source does NOT mean we should have total disregard for their lives plus its your decision as the owner on what you want to use the bird for. I want to say go back and see a different dr if one is available and let...

    Sprain or dislocated hip?

Yep that's exactly what my Rupert did. I'd say if you have an avian vet you can go to then take him. I know they can be hard to find and sometimes a bit costly but if you can then that's what I would do. I can never watch any of my animals suffer or be in pain. Good luck with him❤️

    Sprain or dislocated hip?

Unfortunately no😔 he got worse and worse. I think he went into shock. He stopped eating so i syringe fed him a mash feed and electrolytes in his water but it didnt make a difference. I decided to cull him because he just laid there with his eyes closed.😔

    Leg injury

Good Morning! I thought I'd update on Peaches. She got her first round of meds on Wed when we got home from her appt. There was no change really Wed ( which I didn't expect there to be) nor Thursday or Friday. She hung around her food and water and went as far as her turtle kiddy pool then...

    Leg injury

Exactly. I did ask him specifically if it was ok. He said since there's no injury it's ok for her to walk and swim

    Leg injury

He said I don't have to keep her contained and that it's fine if she swims and it's good to have her moving it. I will keep her contained however only because we've got 44 acres and if she goes in the actual natural pond she won't come in when it's time 🙄 and being she's slow due to the...

    Leg injury

Alright we are back from the vet! Little Miss Peachy Pie has Synovitis an infection in her knee joint which is followed by bumblefoot and common in ducks. I noticed the bumble foot first because of her limping and her knee swelled later. He said Baytril was the correct medication to use...

    Leg injury

Oh that's so awesome! There is no redness or bruising but the 'swelling' is hard not squishy so I'm not even sure I should call it swelling at this point. No redness or bruising. The vet did actually call back but they were booked out about 3 weeks. They had an emergency appt available but it...
