I wish the Colonel was as modest about his bathroom breaks in the house as Red was, she sounds like she was one of a kind. I have the movie "Mad City Chickens" on dvd, and I was watching it last night with my roo and he was totally into watching the chickens on the tv. My DH thought it was so...
I got my EEs from Cackle Hatchery as well, and I have been pleased with them from day 1. Totally healthy and beautiful chicks. Of course, they've grown a bit since then. Seems like each day they have a different color of feathers on them!
I give my guy a bath in the kitchen sink with Dawn dishsoap. I make sure to towel him off real good, and then he sits on my lap will I use the blowdryer on the low setting.
This might be a tad off subject, but I was in the backyard doing some gardening with Colonel, when I noticed a police car parked out in front of the house with an officer in it! I grabbed my banty, and we booked it inside and waited for the cop to drive away. We were sitting in the living room...
Getting my hands on a coop is my #1 priority these days! I've been checking craigslist everyday, and tried to contact a man who says he builds them, but he hasn't returned my message. Hopefully this weekend I'll get some luck.

The two blacks and whites are barred rocks, the other four are easter eggers. I picked out two darks and two lights, but it seems like they have a new color everyday! It will be interesting to see what they look like when they're grown.
I have an all-white cochin bantam rooster. I was reading about the breed, and white was not listed in the list of colors. Is he a cross-bred? Or is there another name for "white" cochin?
Oh there might be hope then! I just thought it was the general rule to keep them in the brooder until they are 8 weeks. It's still pretty cold out at night too, not sure if the lamp would be enough. Thanks for the tip!
iluvcks ; I agree with you 100% Most of the American population just wants to believe that the government is looking out for us and taking care of us, when that is not always the case. I wish you luck in your battle! On a lighter note, my house rooster is the love of my life, probably the...
My 6 little girls seem huge! They are at that stage where they keep finding ways out of their brooder box, eating like horses, and whine at me until I let them play outside. I'm having a hard time dealing with the fact they need to stay in the house for another 4 weeks, lol. Seems I have 6...
I know you guys won't judge me, cause you are all nuts about chickens like me. I was cuddling my house rooster yesterday and giving him kisses on his beak and I realized what good breath he has!! It smells so good, almost as good as puppy breath! He had just come from outside where he was...
He has lived in the house since I got him as a few weeks old chick. He loves being held and is part of the family. We just got some pullet chicks 3 weeks ago, and he doesn't care much for them yet, but one day he will see them with new eyes! They will be twice his size though!
