- Beautiful night time screenshot of mommy mallard. I tried showing the ducklings video footage of their momma. 💕
- Cam footage screen shot of the REAL egg thief!
This is one of our red-earred sliders basking. He's about 7" in shell length. He recently pulled Houdini tricks on me & has learned how scale a wall to climb out of the jacuzzi. The other aquatic turtle is 8" in shell length & hiding under the log. Mind you they were originally the size of a...
Okay, thank you for the advice. Yeah, I noticed the horses thing too. We weren't allowed inside the store, so being given this after specifically explaining it was for duckling is a little annoying, however, it's no one's fault but my own for not checking before leaving. 🤷
Lol, In retrospect, still easier than changing out water for multiple 10 to 50 gal tanks & cleaning turtle poo-filled filters tho! Incidentally, the larger aquatic turtles were moved into our unused jacuzzi tub😆, making water changes a lifesaver. It was either that or spend $1000 on an 150 gal...
That’s very sweet to say. Thank you! What’s more amazing’s that they even survived those 2 nights in low temps w/wind & heavy rain, plus beat the odds surviving the attack. Out of the original 7, only 4 remained. One of which was punctured, assuming by a tooth. I tried saving it by sealing up...
Okay, but I just have to tidy up "the house" first. Lol, it's already a mess. In the meantime, here are a couple of them when just born in the incubator...
Thanks, I appreciate that. I feel like I should open my own sanctuary soon. All the animals in my care are rescues (a Russian tortoise, 3 red-earred sliders [2 of which are getting BIG], one Maine Coon [also gigantic], one Koi, & a whole mishmosh of other goldfish in 4 tanks alone!), which have...
I was wondering this, after reading about an incident where a family raising mallards lost half their flock when they just up & flew away to join another flock passing by overhead & all they could do was just watch as they flew away. If these fellas choose to take that route when they're older...
I tried for two days. It really seemed no one was, 1) even answering & 2) concerned about mallards in the midst of a pandemic. Quite frustrating actually.
Probably inexperienced? In which case, I totally agree. I’ve certainly learned a great deal tho! I consciously said “wild” in case they required different care than domesticated, such as would they fly away if given the opportunity when older? But I thought the sentence explaining they were...
