Hey! 13 eggs hatched out of the 15 eggs I had to start. The 2 left were duds. 1 never formed, and the 2nd stopped growing past day 14 it seems. Though atm I am having an issue with pasty butt on most of the chicks and not sure why. Im so sorry to hear about your last flock. And I cant blame you...
Ive got 13 silkie chicks. A week and a few days old. I have a temporary holding pen in my chicken coop. And ive got a heat lamp I can turn on at night. The high in my area is 89, the low at night is 60. Hence the heat lamp. Is it fine to go ahead and put them in the little enclosure?. Ive got a...
This is my last egg to hatch. The chick seems to be very alert, and has made "some" progress from 7 hours ago. Im not 100% sure whats going on with the red on one side, and the white and the other in the membrane. Any ideas? Not sure when it pipped.
Im down to the last two eggs. Both pipped. One looks normal the other looks like this.. any opinions? Not sure how long its been pipped. Definitely still alive. @Gigachad poultry
At what point do I help? Ive done it before, with some success, some not. My largest hurdle is the when. I still have other pips, that are newer and I dont want to open the incubator too much. Do I just wait until no more pips, and onky hatched chicks, and then help if needed, where its needed?
Little one is still alive! It has dried up much more, and pipped a bit more so I can see the shell. Anxiety reduced. Also, any opinion on the eggs with pips being turned upside down by the other soccer players?
These eggs for from a family friends farm. They said these would be 100% silkie but I dont trust that 100%. Either way. Is this chick deformed, or is it mixed with something ive never seen? Larger bump on head its soft.
On the second to last day of incubation. Half seemed to have pip at the wrong end for some reason... Not too big of a worry though I dont know why. Until I saw this one. Its hard to see in photo but the crack is lined with red, like it hit a vessel. Should I not expect a good outcome for it?
Could I just try and give her a few a day or so after they hatch? They are on day 7 or 6 now. And I really dont think its a good idea to remove the bator at this point
This was actually my original thought! Sadly the young rooster is always with the girls. But he hasnt matured yet, and isnt fertilizing eggs. Hes always with them. The old rooster is cranky and usually off on his own unless he spots birds and will get everyone in the coop lol. On the topic of...
