Hi,
I'm in Seattle, WA and have a gorgeous 11 month old D'uccle rooster that needs a home. We moved from the country to the city and can't keep him.
His crow is very nice and not loud (at least to us).
He's never been aggressive and my young daughter plays with the chickens daily and he...
I have two Buff Orpingtons, one lays a tan egg and the other lays a large cream egg like the one you posted.
I have 4 light brahmas and they all lay different looking eggs...it can be hard to tell even within the same breed.
We live in WA where the daylight goes from approx. 15 hours of daylight down to 8 or 9. And it's rainy and wet so they are more limited to being outside. Our hens were hatched last May/June and I didn't get my first egg until January. None of mine laid before 34 weeks. Now they are laying...
Aren't they the cutest eggs?? I was surprised at how large the yolk was when cracked. We have two D'uccle hens and I love cuddling them. They seem to be more consistent layers than I had counted on.
Congrats!
Thank you! I actually have to rehome him because we're moving to the city. His crow is so nice:) He started at about 6 month.
I have a buff mottled and Mille fluer d'uccle both hens (who just started laying the cutest eggs!) and the buff mottled has a redder comb and a little bigger than the...
We have a 10 month old Porcelain D'uccle rooster and his comb was bright red and larger by the time he was 3 or 4 months. He looks like a full fledged rooster...super long gray rooster tail, large red comb, long hackle feathers, and a crower. Here he is...
We have a buff mottled and a mille fleur that are 9 months old. They both started laying last week. We were going to keep them anyway and I expected no eggs from them so it was a nice surprise. Their eggs are very pretty and actually very decent sized. The yolk is almost regular size the whites...
My Buff O was the first to lay at 34 weeks. That was in January. She was the only for several weeks...within the last 3 weeks I'm up to 12 laying hens. We went from no eggs to having extras for friends! So my hens started from 34-42 weeks approx.
It will happen when you least expect it. I...
My chickens are newly laying but they are all over 34 weeks. Because it took so long for them to lay I started thinking they didn't like the nesting boxes in their coop so I put a bucket in the woodshed that was filled up most of the way with rocks and put hay on the top. Low and behold 4 of...
I have 14 hens that hatched in May/June of 2013. I have 3 of my May hens and 2 of my June hens laying almost daily. However none of them laid until they were 34+ weeks.
I let them free range but do not use any lighting in the coops.
Time change is in a few weeks so I imagine things will...
I had a blue laced red wyandotte rooster who was absolutely gorgeous and such a great roo...but his crow was too loud and crazy for me. I know my neighbors would have complained and it was waking me up and not in a pleasant way. We rehomed him.
We have a porcelain D'uccle roo and I really...
The eggs inside and out look great. I noticed when I cracked it that it had a stronger smell than the other ones. Not a bad smell but just more of an egg smell. I did a taste test and my husband didn't think there was a difference and gobbled it down.
I guess I found it interesting that I was...
So I'm up to 3 laying hens with our BO laying first. I was so excited to get eggs finally but was a little surprised that her eggs weren't that tasty to me.
Then the BA and EE started laying and I noticed I heavily favored their eggs.
Anyone else notice different taste/texture in eggs from...
