Hi Devon! I just saw your other thread, and I am in the same boat as you! I'm getting babies late April. I'm down near Gettysburg. It will be fun to experience this together!
And to everyone else - I've posted here a few times and my big new is that I'm getting 7 (hopefully) pullets on...
Welcome! I'm actually in the same boat as you. Getting my first chicks in the spring and still trying to narrow down breeds. Buff Orps and Speckled Sussex are my definites, but I love quite a few others. I'm trying to stick with gentler breeds.
Today I just read Salmon Faverolle described as...
Thank you, I really appreciate the feedback. I've heard a lot of good things about MPC customer service.
I have a local TSC, but I've read posts about not only sexing errors but people getting the wrong breeds. I'll have to do a bit more poking around.
[Seaecho, sorry for sticking my 'beak'...
So is there much of a difference (with standard sized chickens) in ordering from MPC vs Meyer? Since they are shipped from OH and I am in PA, I will likely use one to get my first chicks.

Why didn't I think of that?! I was thinking too narrowly. Thanks a million! It's already attached to a "paddock" type area where the goats loafed. It needs to be updated for chicken safety, but the framework (4"x4" welded wire) is there. I will take some pics of the structure and area and...
Hi everyone, I'm a few days behind on replies due to being under the weather (where is Fall?!). Thank you for the welcomes and thoughts on a coop. It's all very overwhelming at this point because I am new and have zero skills in that area. I can barely handle a screwdriver.
My pole...
Hi everyone! I am new to the site, and new to chickens as well. I posted in the New Member section but wanted to say hello to my fellow Pennsylvanians.
I live in Adams county, and am hoping to start a small flock for eggs/pets in the spring. Currently my favorite breed is Speckled Sussex...
