Her eyes seem normal and bright but I will keep an eye on them, I’m going to call the local feed store tomorrow morning to see if they have that! Thank you so much for your help
I have a lone chick due to a cat attack and her being the only survivor, she is an 8 week old exchequer leghorn and is extremely friendly, so much so that she spends all day with me on my shoulder, recently I’ve noticed her ‘gaping’ where she stretches her neck out and opens her beak as wide as...
I have a small flock of just 6 chicks, all 6 weeks old, it was their second time out in their new pen and a cat got in and killed two and left one severely injured, the others managed to stay safe. The injured one, benny, has a deep wound all the way down to the neck muscle, it’s not bleeding...
It’s day 30 for my call duck egg and I took it out yesterday to see wether it was going to hatch or not, there was some movement going on inside and very clear and distinct veins, but no internal pip which is obviously quite unusual... however when I got up this morning there was what looked to...
It's not supposed to be, the website I bought it from said they were call ducks, but I didn't see his farm so there's no way I can say 100% no... But regardless I woke up this morning and the duckling has unfortunately passed :( I'm not giving up though!! I must hatch something!
Update: I decided to see what was going on and have worsened the situation... I gently and slowly made my way into the egg and was very careful about doing it. When I first got into the egg he was kicking and moving and then as we went on he eventually stopped, however his heart is still...
Hey, thank you for replying! I've candled it just now and it still moves when I tap it and the veins are still very defined. I set the egg on the 24th of march and the incubator is a forced air incubator and was at 38 degrees celcius during incubation and then it has been in 38.3 degrees for...
The egg has been at 38.3 degrees for the whole lockdown period without fail, and I'm pretty sure I counted the days correctly, and even if I didn't include the extra day it should've hatched by now :( I don't know whether I should help or anything...
It's day 31 and my call duck egg is definitely still alive, it moves about when I whistle or tap at it, it has thick distinct veins and a good air cell, however there is no internal or external pip and I have no idea why... Is there something I can do to get it out or should I just wait? Thank you
I only have one egg left and it's definately alive, the egg is completely dark apart from a few veins at the bottom... But it's day 31 now and still no internal pip, it's definately a call duck egg so I just don't know why it won't hatch :( the humidity is at 75% all the time jow as I have fixed...
No it was in my incubator for about a week and then the bator broke so i made one using a heat lamp and other things. This means that the temperature was NOT steady throughout the process, but I know its still alive in the egg as when I tap it, it starts kicking...
Hey, I set 6 call duck eggs on the 24th of march and only one of them is valid, it's now day 29 and I've heard no peeping, seen no pipping and I can't tell if it's internally pipped or not... Me being the impatient person I am candled it today making sure I didn't move it from its original...
