    Cornish Broiler

I have a few Cornish Crosses, all I know about them from what they said on the sign at TSC and Rural King. The boss got attached and they are now long term members of the flock. Pretty decent layers, basically 2 out of 3 days regularly, so far. They lay a big light brown egg. One of the three...

    Egg hatching at 17 days?

I have a chicken egg hatching at 17 days. Heard it piping, thought it was a duckling coming 2 days early, nope chicken egg. 21 days is Friday, temp is 99.5 by two thermometers. Anyone ever had this happen?

How long can it takes from the first piping to the last hatching ?

That far along it could be the float test? Maybe dropped their temp too long? That's the thing about the humidity it carries the heat, but it carries it away too. So the 20 minutes to an hour they could make it out of the incubator could be basically nothing if they are wet. Sometimes they just...

cockerel mounted 9 week old chick

Aren't attacking her yet.... Plus the pullet is sick, I wouldn't risk the flock.

cockerel mounted 9 week old chick

You'd put the sick bird back in with the flock?

cockerel mounted 9 week old chick

To me, it sounds like the original issue is why she is back down. A rooster is going to do his thing, and no such thing as statutory. Too many cockerels, too tight an area, just a really aggressive one, or in this case to sick to get away, it could kill her. It happens, and for the most part...

    Sanitation!!

@Ridgerunner (great post, by the way) Kinda a "yeh, what he said", if I wash an egg, it goes to the front of the rotation. I'm going to throw this out there. Is anyone else as lazy as me? No floor in the coop, drag it every couple of days in the summer. Over the garden in the winter, move...

    Self Introduction

Welcome to the forum Mataa, there is a whole lot of sticky shoe'd people here that will help you get started feeding. Without counting everything up, sounds like you have a pretty good mix going. If you are feeding whole eggs, not just the shells, you may want to do the numbers on the calcium...

Double Coated Dog Breeds (More Specifically:Blow Outs)

Have you noticed any irritability / aggression issues from raw meat? With people or other animals? I've always heard raw meat triggers aggressiveness in dogs, from my experience it seems to be true. I don't know the reason, whether it's the hormones and brings out the wolf in them, or...

Welcome. It seems like there is a little voodoo in incubating, until you get the swing of it, glad you didn't give up.
