Hey everyone. So i moved my two pekin ducks out into my backyard and they were doing great. They both made it past their first birthday when a racoon decided to find his way into their cage....sadly he took the life of my female pekin. :'( she was the social, sweet one. The good news is that...
But how can I know that they are fertile or not. I just assume they are because I have a male too? I just don't wanna incubate an underutilized egg haha thank you for your help. Is it normal that my female is strangely quiet today, this is the first time she lays eggs and she is usually very...
So if the ducks sit on them and care for them I should leave them? Other than that I take them and eat them? I'm just confused, each one has the potential to be a baby if she wants it to be, because I thought ducks could lay eggs regardless of having a male, they just won't have babies in them...
So my two Pekin ducks have been happily living in my backyard now for a couple months, they are each 6 months old and I have figured out that I have a female and a male. Today I went outside to change their water and food and I found two eggs, they were not even close to each other in their...
Hey guys,
I got a chicken coop and modified it for my ducks. I know I put wood shavings on the floor like I did with their brooder, but what do I do to clean it? I don't want to just throw all the shavings on the floor because I need to keep my backyard as clean as possible. I used a plastic...
@Amiga
That's exactly how I feel. I can't believe it, how do you do that! I barely have room for brooder #2. Haha. So by three months they can live happily outside?
:ep
@Amiga
Oh got it! Where did you buy the plastic?
These are all great ideas! It helps, I'll take a pic of it when I complete it this week and post it here. :-)
@AmigaForgive me if I take way too long to respond, I work doubles at work sometimes :'(.
I can definitely move stuff around! That idea is great. :-) I just have a couple more questions though. What is a 6mil, a footup, and a water catcher?
Also why do you use towels instead of hay or pine...
@Amiga
Ok so what did you do when they were getting bigger? What should I use because I do not have a lot of rokm for something huge inside my room, but I know the porch in my backyard is too hot. I'm in florida.
That link is perfect for the food protein, thank you. :-)
Hello everyone. I am a First time ducky owner and have 2 cute and quirky pekin ducklings. I have had them in theor brooding box since I got them, but it is now too small...theu grow soooo fast. They don't seem happy in there but I know they're too young to be moved outside to a big house...I...
Hi I am a first time duck owner and my 2-3 week pekin Daisy has a reddish wing, I found the same on her brother toby and just wanted to make sure it was normal and didn't have to do with allergies or something like that. Any thoughts are useful. :-) thanks
@Amiga @Cassie Collins the thing I like the most about these is that removable flooring thing that allows for easy cleanup. I wouldn't know how to build that in my own and none of the single story ones have it :'(
@Amiga@Cassie Collins if byc had awards the most helpful would go to amiga, I see her on every page (including my own) helping everyone out. She is like a ducky expert lol
