Starting with Rabbits...Lionheads. First show this weekend!

Of your top three, I would say first choice: Champagne d'argente, good quality meat rabbits, good stock is not too hard to come by. second choice: Silver Martens, same at the Champs, but getting good silvering can be a challenge. third choice: Flemish Giants are huge rabbits. Hauling a few...

    Tell Me About Meat Rabbits

Quote: When you start getting over 80F degrees you start having issues with rabbits. You have to be sure they are in the shade and well ventilated. But we have had rabbits outdoors in the summer over 100F with no losses. Some stress, but no losses on meat rabbits. See my article about outdoor...

    Legal in ELK GROVE CA???

I'm in Sacramento near Hwy 50 and Watt Ave, a few miles north of you. I know the big issue is the size of your lot. Generally you will need to have 10,000 square foot lot to be in compliance with Sacramento County Zoning...

    Rabbit housing and feed

Quote: I strongly disagree. Pellets are designed to provide 100% of the nutrition required for rabbits. A lot of expensive research is conducted to assure the correct proportions of protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals are present. Product is regularly tested to assure the labelling is...

What kind of rabbit do i have?! *pics*

Quote: Breeding him to a Ruby Eyed White (REW) is more likely to reveal what is under the White coat. Like somebody said on the other board, he could be a Lynx (Lilac Chestnut/Agouti) which has a couple of recessives that would be hidden if the REW has Black under the white coat. What is...

    Rabbit breeder's thread!

Quote: Your 4H leader is mistaken. The Lionheads are not official. They are still a breed in development. The previous holder of Certificate Of Development failed and the next holder of COD takes over. A new Working Standard was printed. Lionheads can be shown at ARBA shows but cannot compete...

    Rabbit breeder's thread!

Found this link to a picture of a Salatin Rabbit/Chicken house, picture at bottom of the blog post http://polyfaceapprentice.blogspot.com/2009/01/rabbits-and-layers.html I believe there is netting above the rabbit cages that keeps the chickens from roosting over the rabbits. This blog also...

Californian Meat Rabbit Grow-Out Thread... **Picture Heavy**

A note for those in Calif selling rabbits to 4H kids. The 4H kids in Calif really need to have pedigreed purebreed rabbits. Most of the County Fairs and the Calif State Fair use judges from American Rabbit Breeders Association (ARBA). So the rabbits have to meet the requirements for purebreed...

    meat rabbits

Think of the cages as rabbit "holes" where the rabbits live. We often refer to the cages as holes. These holes where the rabbits live are safe and secure for the rabbit. There is a convenience factor. Not only makes it easier to feed and water, but you can get your hands on them to judge...

    Rabbit Breeding Question

Usually when I breed the rabbits I'll put them together and watch them. I don't like to leave them in the cage overnight because they might fight and injure each other. I prefer to watch them and then I can mark it on the calendar. Have a good day!
