I have 2 rabbits I bred for the first time both has their litter. The babies are 2 1/2 weeks and are already eating on their own all the books I have read said they won't do that till about 8 weeks old. Are mine ready to be weaned? Any help would be nice.

they start nibbling on there own at 2 weeks, this helps to take some of the pressure off of mom. They need to stay with her for a minimum of four weeks, I always go with 6. I will rebreed my does when the kits are 4 weeks old, then take the kits at 6 weeks that gives mom a couple weeks kid free before her new litter, we raise our primarily for meat though, or you wouldn't need to rebreed so soon I wouldn't think. Got any pictures? always nice to see cute baby bunnies!

No they can't be weaned yet wait until 5-6 wks to wean them!
