    Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

So do saddle feathers not mean anything then? I have 10 that I hatched from shipped eggs, only one looks like a hen by her comb/wattles, But several have the pointy saddle feather and are acting rooish and the ones with the round saddle feathers are acting more hen like.

    The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Could someone help me with sexing. I hatched out 6 english GL orps from eggs I ordered. They all look the same to me, They are about 10 weeks old and no one stands out to me as a roo. Could I have ended up with all pullets? Or do they need to mature more to be able to tell?

    Incubators for large scale hatching

Currently I use Hova bators and only have a 50% hatch rate, I would like to start hatching more eggs, like a couple hundred a month and would like advice on incubators. Also what are reliable brands of thermometers and hygrometers, I can never seem to get the cheap ones I have completely accurate.

Dogs for poultry guarding. I want to hear your experience.

Thank you for sharing your experience! Small dogs are not much for us though lol. I would be scared to leave them out as coyotes could injure/kill them :(

Dogs for poultry guarding. I want to hear your experience.

We have a small farm in Missouri and are planning to expend. We are wanting to get a dog to stay outside with the animals, but are not very interested in the traditional LGD's. We know some people with Akita's who guard their chickens very well, we also have seen German shepherds as LGD's. We...

Incubating day 22! Only 3 have hatched.

Thanks for your help! Everyone told me that 50% hatch rate was about normal, but I was determined that if I kept everything just right I could do better.

Incubating day 22! Only 3 have hatched.

I don't see any internal pips or movement. Is that common for them to be very active at day 18 but not make it to hatch?

Incubating day 22! Only 3 have hatched.

Three more have hatched out this morning. I still have four that have not even started hatching or chirping. When should I candle them again and what should I be looking for when I do?

Alright thanks! And they are a mix of brown egg layers. RR's, Australorps, Orphingtons.

Incubating day 22! Only 3 have hatched.

I had 13 all together, 10 made it to day 18. I have 3 thermometers, and I set them on a Friday afternoon 3 weeks from yesterday. So does that make today day 21? or 22? A fourth chick is started to unzip now.

Incubating day 22! Only 3 have hatched.

I am on day 22 for incubation. On day 18 I candled all of the eggs and all of them except 3 (which I removed ) were alive and even moving around. Them temp has been steady at 102 (still air incubator). I raised my humidity on day 18 and it has been hanging around 70%. Why do I only have 3 chicks?
