Really worried now about using zimecterin gold now given the concerns about appropriate egg withdrawal times. My hens will die eventually if I do not treat their tape and gape worms. Would Valbazen be a better, safer choice for treatment of both type of worms? Has any vets advised anyone on this...
How do you administer the paste? I have 11 hens and am used to used liquid wormers. Do you put a small ball on bread? I think that will be time consuming and I will have to segregate my birds to make sure the more aggressive ones don't try to eat all of the bread balls. Do you put the paste in...
Zimecterin Gold has been recommended for treating tape and gape worms, but I do not know the dosage for chickens. My hens are 2-3 pounds each. How long is the treatment? Is a second application recommended? Assume eggs are to be dumped for 10-14 days following last treatment? If you have used...
"i have not had the money to buy them crushed oyster shell." Have you checked your local feed or farm supply store? I pay about $1.00 per lb for crushed oyster shell. A little goes a long way when mixed in with the layer pellet.
I am very familiar with what tapeworms look like as I have dealt with them for years with other flocks so I did not get a fecal test confirmation. I ruled out respiratory issues because I have not found any nasal discharge, issues with their eyes, etc. I've tried looking down their throats but...
I have tapeworms that I have confirmed and I believe I also have gapeworms. I have lost three hens who were just over a year old. They were exhibiting mouth opening, neck stretching, and shaking their heads. I am trying to find a wormer that will take care of both worms and was wondering if...
Thank you for the information. Just to confirm dosage, the correct dosage should be 0.1 cc per 10 lbs not 1 cc per 10lbs. That decimal point makes a big difference! The Safeguard instructions indicate a dosage of 0.6ml per 25lbs for goats. I bought more Safeguard and will start treatment again...
If I dose a small loaf of bread with Safeguard for five days, should that work? I have pullets and its difficult to catch them and keep track of who has been dosed! I have no doubt they will gobble up the bread.
Really frustrating. I've been following a gapeworm treatment regime found on this website which you indicate is incorrect. I really wish that people would refrain from posting information on this website that is incorrect. I am a novice at best and rely on the information posted by this...
