Chickens can recover from some nasty wounds. I would give her a chance if it seems she's not suffering and is eating and drinking ok. You will know what the right thing to do is. I hope she pulls through for you.
You can put them in a pillowcase with there head out like shake n bake. I haven't tried this though. I think I would just sprinkle it on around there vents under wings and such but my chickens are tame. Just don't let them breathe in the dust. And sprinkle it in there pen and dusting area.
I only have 3 hens since my coop is very small. So I usually use my pockets and I've been known to carry one back to work with me accidentally when I collect at lunch break. And they've always made it safely back home. But it makes me smile when I discover it.
