Thanks for the support everyone.
I live in Southwest lower Michigan. I also thought predators but there are no prints in the snow heading to his pen or anywhere along the creek other than the human tracks at all or any sign of struggle, of course that doesn't mean that a struggle couldn't have...
Its been awhile since I have been on here but I have a crisis.
For the last 10 days I have been on a trip to Hawaii with my family. I let my duck stay outside so that he could still enjoy the creek while we were gone (we left his pen door open for him so he could come and go as he pleased and...
You probably all think its a weird question, but does anyone know of anyone who has dressed their duck up for Halloween? I want to dress my duck up in some sort of costume or something for Halloween for the kids to see when they come to get candy lol
Nothing to elaborate, it only has to stay on...
I have the eggs in a shoe box with several cloths formed into a nest shape. I check the eggs every few hours to adjust the height of the light to control temperature and turn them at least 2 times a day (sometimes more if I'm home) I spray them every night b4 i go to bed. My parents arent too...
Yea, I thought last year was a one time thing! Now I guess the word is out that if the ducks dump their eggs in my yard that they will get incubated for free! lol
Last year right after July 4th I found a single duck egg in my yard, I took it inside and put it under a desk lamp and used a $1 thermometer from walmart to monitor the temperature. That egg hatched August 11th and he is still alive today enjoying our back yard and creek. On July 8th I walked...
I live in a rural area so we don't have a fence or anything. We don't mow near the creek so all the grass and weeds are about waist tall near the creek if he feels the need to hide and the creek winds through some pretty thick woods once out of our property so I don't think a hawk could hunt...

Captain Cluck, I respect your rank, sir, but did you read the original post at all? OP is talking about kayaking on Lake Michigan, not hanging out at home.
I think he was responding to my post about having a hawk that lives in my yard.
My duck does have a pen that we put him...
I like kayaking a lot and I take my duck with me when I go kayaking in the creek in my backyard (he swims next to my kayak). Me and some of my kayaking friends are planning on kayaking in Lake Michigan (about 2 miles away from my house) and I want to take my duck with me if the waves aren't...
After calling around some I found a vet who many years ago worked on a few ducks. She looked at my duck and felt his leg and told me its just sprained and to let my duck rest for a few days and he should be good as new!
Thanks for the reply.
I went to his pen and picked him up, he made the swimming motion although with less motion in the injured leg (and when he was in the creek earlier he seemed to be able to swim fine), I then had my mom compare the temperature of the two feet and she said that both the foot...
My mallard duck was fine earlier today, he has a habit of chasing me whenever I come into our backyard but just a few minutes ago I went into my backyard and he didn't run out of the creek to come get me and I thought that was strange. I coaxed him out of the water and he took a few limping...
