I made my first incubator out of an old microwave. I took out the magnatron and all the guts and had a nice insulated box left. I used the stock cord and just added more wire where I needed it. Wired up a hot water heater thermostat and a computer fan. Used a small tupperware bowl and sponge...
Count me in, born and raised in Texas going on 40 years in a coupla of months. I was born in Dallas and lived there for the first 15 years of my life. Mom was a country girl at heart and wanted to come home to the Piney Woods. So we moved to San Augustine. Been here over 24 years now and...
Looked in the microwave bator today and had 2 pips. Out of the 12 eggs I had set I had to chunk 7. 3 bloodrings and 4 not fertile. But 2 pips are better than none. Hope everyone else is doing great.
I'm in. I put some in the bator 9/30/09 so should get something around 10/21/09. Got some Seabrights in there along with some mix breed I got from my aunt. 12 all together.
You could use a microwave but you would have to remove the magnatron and install a lightbulb for heat. I made a micro-bator and have already hatched 6 chicks in the first test hatch. So if you have an old micowave laying around just remove all the guts in it and built an incubator out of it.
I have a digital touch screen Central Heat/Air Thermostat laying around. I would like to use that in fridge bator. Has anyone ever used one of these and if so, how would you wire it up?

UPDATE : Switched the fan to the inside of the microwave today. Now temp is at 108. Turned the thermostat all the way down but it still stays on continously. Where am I going wrong?
