Type of Bulb for Winter Light in the Coop...

I've been rolling through several articles here on BYC and a few online as well. I'm a bit confused to what type of bulb I need to light the coop this winter. What spectrum light? Florescent? LED? Rope lights? I'm in northern Ohio. We get chilly, mostly we get windy and chilly. I'd love...

The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

They're on Purina Layer that we ferment. They get veggie and fruit scraps. They free range and have access to water. If I do see this again (I mean it's huge in size too- like 10") what should I be looking at?

I'd love a hand! I've checked out poop charts, can't find this! 15 girls about 20-22 weeks old. We've gotten 2-3 eggs (just started Mon) went outside yesterday and found the picture below. I don't know if it's poop or vomit, there's probably 3-4 of these piles..when I scoop from the poop board...

New rollout nest design Picture heavy-edited 1/21

Has anyone had any luck finding directional nest pads? I ordered some from QC supply. NOT directional. I also looked at the ones mentioned here (cutler) and they don't look to be directional either. Thanks!

Thanks! I thought that once they lost their -"fluff" they wouldn't lose again until a big molt. Wasn't sure if the amount of feathers I saw were okay! I don't want sick chickies!

They don't look scraggly at all! They look full and fluffy! If this is just a 'mini' molt- I'm fearful of their regular full molt!

Whew! Thanks, I was feverishly checking their feet for mites and for anything on their feather shafts...I was wondering if it might be a juvenile molt- but I didn't expect so many! Will the feathers be okay in the DL method?

Is this an okay amount of feather loss for 15 (13 week old) chickens?? It seems like an awful lot!!

I have 15 - 11 week old pullets is this amount of feather loss normal? They're in 18% feed, fermented w/ 1 c of boss extra a day...

One Chicken (10 weeks old) losing a lot of feathers...

I'm unsure what's going on or if it's normal. I have one chicken, 98% sure it's a black australorp is losing a lot of feathers. None of my other girls seem to be losing like that. Total of 15, all the same age. They've been in their coop for a few weeks now, no new food changes, I don't see...

It's 10x10 with a 15x20 run (I think) I have about 3x10ft of storage space inside. The only downside thus far is my hubby put the poop board up and the door separating the inside up...and I'm concerned about the roosting space being too small. As it sets...they'll have 7-8" of roosting space...
