1/5/24- Yes, I have an Australorp that pecks when I bring feed treats. I just say, do you want to eat? I do feel like she's just saying hi, I'm right here, notice me, me first. She doesn't always do this. Maybe some days she's just hungrier. Sometimes it's a pick at my pants or could be my...
My Orpington rooster is 3 years old now. He's built like a line backer. Only a short 1 wing dance. It's the girls that don't like to take part. Considering his size I can see their point of view. However, before he got so large the females act like silly teenage girls. They are vocal in...

My hoop coops hold up way better than store bought coops. I can enter & clean with long handle garden tools in the hoop coop. You'll invest in material but way better. Just search to find how to do it. If you ever decide to not have chickens you then can convert to a green house.
I really wanted to have some chickens. Not sure why. But an urge like a bucket list. 30 chickens later, I feel like I'm doing pretty good with all this. Learning and having fun. I could talk chickens all day.
True, feathers don't grow out until they molt. I've seen the bullying occur when the hen eats like a pig, crowding out the others. They all picked on her. Try removing her from the coop she might be as happy as my Buff Orpington who followed me around. She didn't eat like a pig any more & would...
