    Gladys has an infection? Tumor?

It is with great sadness that I must report that our beautiful girl Gladys has passed. The stress was too much we suspect, we thought we had saved her. Dear Community, thank you for your many years of advice and care. We had no idea what a pet duck could do for all of our lives. Some may...

    Gladys has an infection? Tumor?

I think we've turned a corner, we did the deep clean today and flushed and flushed with the hose then dawn sudsy water while picking off hundreds, went back, did it again and found two little clusters. Have since flushed her heavily with Chlorhexidine, let it dry and applied a lot of triple...

    Gladys has an infection? Tumor?

Thank you Isaac! My grandson is over and helped work on her. It's amazing how deep the maggots are and yes, tweezers were the only way. We were on it for an hour and I'm sure there are pockets still left, they were half way up her back. How can this happen so fast? I had her in my lap just this...

    Gladys has an infection? Tumor?

Thanks, yes. Ok, the deeper I looked , she has flystrike! I cleaned her with a hose and removed all the maggots I could find. I’m sure there are more. Brought her into her clean winter habitat and didn’t bring in any flies. I’m going to wash her again tomorrow with Dawn and water with...

    Gladys has an infection? Tumor?

Hello friends, happy to say Gladys has been fine all year. Yesterday we got flies in the yard and seemed to be all around Gladys, she looked fine and don’t think anything of it. Today it was worse and I inspected her and sure enough found this. It smells a little. What are your thoughts? Thank you!

Do’s and Don’ts of Using Duck Poop as Fertilizer/Compost

Hi ya'll, Gladys is fine and just had her 9th birthday on Easter! She wouldn't still be here without the help received here after she became ill last spring. About compost. I use pine shavings and change her house weekly and put into the compost pile. I also keep a separate pile off to the...

    Gladys is not feeling well.

Hi Lydia, much better today. Generally I think she's back to 70%. Gaining a little weight, eating some pellets, not much, but her nose is in the grass and leaves everywhere she walks. Giving her night crawlers in her little pond, she loves them.

    Gladys is not feeling well.

Hi folks. Since I stopped her antibiotic her appetite is finally MUCH better. She is now eating pellets for the last four days. She hadn't wanted them for three weeks. Now though she has developed an eye problem in her left eye. When she's busy it stays open but when at rest, not asleep, it...

She's down to about five lb. The syringe they sent is in ml from 0.5 to 3.
