I know you said don't suggest masks, but... I have very bad asthma and the masks do help tons, you just have to get the heavy duty kind. Hope this works for you, it works for me.

    Allergic to the bedding

I am very allergic to wood shavings myself, along with dust which chickens create. I have bad asthma on top of it all. I just bought a very good mask that I wear when I go to do coop chores. I never wear barn clothes in the house so I have separate boots and also coveralls. I bought the mask...

How big is your Brooder question?

When your raising baby ducks, how big was your brooder and how many ducks did you have in there. Also was your experience that those birds had enough room or not enough, and how long did you keep them in there. Same question needed for geese, please. I will be getting 7-9 goslings and 22...

I've Got A Pig Herding Dog...

Alright so I just had another episode. I let the boar out of the pen to feed him, as I know he won't leave anywhere. The little dog was out going for a tinkle when he saw the pig out of the barn for even a step and he went crazy. I will have to calm the dog down a bit because he scared the pig...

I've Got A Pig Herding Dog...

So I have this little 8 month old mini dachshund which I have been training to be gentle with the chickens. She would at first keep trying to play with the chicken feathers by attacking the birds trying to rip them out. This was in the very begining, only a few months old. I have been daily...

How do YOU store your chicken feed???

We built a small hopper inside the chicken coop. It fits 2 bags of feed, and the feed just comes out the bottom when you open the hatch. No critters get to it because it is inside the coop in the corner.

    HOW-TO: Make seed tapes

Does the glue effect the germination at all? Have you planted these before and they've worked. I am in disbelieve at how simple that is, it looks like it should be a lot harder and more scientific with the glue and such. You have great ideas, I am going to try this TONIGHT! You are awesome!

    Clipped wings and fence height?

I have a Welsummer roo with clipped wings who likes to sit on top of the chicken coop. The lowest point to the ground is 10 feet off the ground. There will always be one, that is my saying. You think something can't happen, well there will always be one. That being said I think you will be fine...

I am looking to buy some Runner Duck eggs for sale in Canada. I live in Prescott Ontario, but will pay shipping from anywhere is Canada, as it is too expensive to bring them over the border. I am not picky on the parents colour, as long as they are of sound health. Looking for 4-16 eggs. Will...

Help! Question about newly hatched chick

I am in agreement of just being patient and trying not to panic. Leave it be, as there is not much you can do especially not really knowing what it really is. It was a good idea for you to not put it in with the other chicks, they might think it was a treat to peck at. Good luck

    Duck Space???

If you only have a few ducks I would give them more room that the standard 3 square feet per bird. Odds are that you may want another one in the future and you won't want to rebuild then. I would give 5-6 square feet per bird so they have plenty of room to stretch, that way there is always a...

    Anyone Ever Eat A Runner?

My goal is for good taste and great visual appeal. I will have plenty of dishes as I usually serve a 5-6 course meal on these special occasions, so the size really is not an issue. I am glad to hear than a few people enjoy the taste. I can see why you would say it is not worth the cleaning for...
